Kanda Store "Monochrome Hall" – Black & White Film Developing and Darkroom Printing Workshops
At the rental darkroom located on the 3rd floor of our "Monochrome Hall," we offer ongoing darkroom printing workshops led by instructor Junko Sakamoto. We provide courses for all skill levels—from introductory "experience" sessions for beginners to programs for novice, intermediate, and advanced photographers. We also offer workshops on black-and-white film developing.

Participated as an analog photographer in the FOTOGRAFIA ZEROPIXEL photo festival held in Trieste, Italy.

Exhibited film photographs at "GRIN Art gallery" in Croatia.
◯Currently active as a photographer in Japan, working as a workshop instructor, gallery advisor, and holding solo exhibitions.

▪️Black and White Film Development Workshop
Learn the fundamentals of film development, from reel winding practice to development, stopping, fixing, drying, and sheet loading.
We will teach you the entire process.
(Reel winding will be done using a Patterson autoload reel, so even beginners can do it.)
What to bring: Please bring undeveloped, exposed black and white 135 (35mm) film.
Other equipment and chemicals will be provided.
*Please wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty, or bring an apron.

◾️Monochrome Darkroom Print Workshop
■ Introductory Course (Recommended) (2 hours)
For those who want to experience darkroom work for the first time.
Experience the "magical moment" when an image appears on photographic paper.
The instructor will provide careful support from handling the tools to creating prints.
Four sheets of 5x7 inch RC photographic paper are used (prepared by the instructor).

Tuition fee: 11,000 yen
■ Beginner Course (3 hours)
For those new to darkrooms or who want to learn the basics thoroughly.
Learn the basics of printing while acquiring the fundamentals necessary for creating your own artwork.
Three sheets of 8x10 inch RC photographic paper are used (prepared by the instructor).
Create basic monochrome prints.
Tuition fee: 16,500 yen
■ Intermediate Course (3 hours)
For those who want to expand their range of expression, including burning and dodging.
Learn techniques for achieving more desired tones and the workflow of creating artwork.
Three sheets of 8x10 inch RC photographic paper are used (prepared by the instructor).
Create prints with rich tonal gradations using filters.
Tuition Fee: 18,000 yen
■ Private Lesson (Advanced) (3 hours)
A special course for in-depth one-on-one learning.
This course covers advanced topics such as printing techniques for artistic activities and detailed finishing adjustments.
This is a private lesson scheduled to suit the student's needs.
For those who want to print exhibition pieces or acquire advanced techniques.
Please bring the photographic paper you wish to print on.
Tuition Fee: 22,000 yen
Items to bring (common to all courses):

◯ Clothing that you don't mind getting dirty. Or an apron

In addition to the dates listed below, it may be possible to schedule a session on other weekdays (Monday–Friday) or on the first, third, and fifth Saturday of the month (excluding Sundays and public holidays). Please contact us for details.
The film developing workshop lasts 3 hours, from 11:00 to 14:00.
* For all sessions, the booking deadline is one week in advance.

・Priority is given to courses that receive earlier bookings (afternoon beginner and intermediate courses).
・If a film developing workshop is booked first, the afternoon session will be changed to a print-making experience course.
・Sessions are also available on weekdays. Please inquire about your preferred date (at least one week in advance).
