◾️Exhibition Report
◾️Open Call Exhibition "Classic Cameras" -Film & Digital-
Exhibition Period: September 19th (Sat) - September 27th (Sun)
This time, we held an open call exhibition with a focus on classic cameras.
Film cameras - including lenses, manufactured before 1963; Digital cameras - manufactured before 2000 (video and still images acceptable)
With these regulations, we received submissions from 8 exhibitors, including those who stayed behind to look after the gallery.
Contrary to our fears that only high-end cameras would be submitted, the collection included models that could be easily purchased, ranging from 1,000 yen to around 50,000 yen.
Some of the older cameras are over 100 years old.
Many exhibitors put a lot of effort into their prints; 4 out of 8 submitted monochrome hand-printed images (one of whom also produced cyanotype prints).
The prints from the other exhibitors were also of excellent quality. There were even additions of new works submitted during the exhibition!
Throughout the exhibition period, everyone brought their prized cameras on a rotating basis, making the small tables incredibly crowded! ⬇︎

We scheduled the event for Silver Week, but due to the typhoon, it rained most of the days.
However, we had many visitors each day, and the conversations about classic cameras were lively.

The excitement is so intense that I can't keep up with it (sweat).
Now, let's introduce everyone's exhibited works and cameras. ⬇︎

Thanks to everyone's participation, it was a truly enriching open call exhibition.
◾️Announcement
We received many positive comments from attendees and exhibitors, who said they enjoyed it and would love to see it again next year.
Therefore, we have decided to hold the event again. The regulations will remain the same!
When using classic cameras, developing and printing the film is always a challenge.
At the Kanda Monochrome Building of Photo Hirosha, we permanently hold workshops on black and white film development and black and white darkroom printing in our rental darkroom on the 3rd floor.
Please feel free to use our services.
